The Atlantic County Democrats acceptance of a $35,000 campaign contribution from Senator Vince Fumo in 2005 is part of their continued pattern of accepting big dollars from out-of-county power brokers — in this case, a very corrupt one who made the expansion of gambling in his home state a top priority — all to the detriment of our region.
The people of Atlantic County are tired of dirty money coming into the county and being used for dirty tactics.
While everyone else in New Jersey is trying to clean up government, Assemblyman Jim Whelan and the Atlantic County Democrats perpetuate this costly corruption in government by accepting an exorbitant amount of campaign contributions from a Philadelphia state senator who is under indictment by a federal grand jury.
The US Attorney, Patrick Meehan, called Senator Fumo ?greedy? and ?manipulative.? ?Sen. Fumo didn’t just step over the line,? Meehan said. ?He completely ignored it.?
Whelan and the Democrats accepted $35,000 of this ?greedy? and ?manipulative? Pennsylvania Senator?s money — just as they have accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Camden County Democrat political machine. For them, it?s just about amassing as much money as possible to control this county, without regard to its source.
Atlantic County Democrats like Jim Whelan, Jim McGettigan, Alisa Cooper, and Ron Ruff ought to know better than to get in bed with a corrupt politician. They ought to refund this tainted money immediately, because the voters of Atlantic County have taken notice of the Democrats? repeated pattern of conduct.
