Atlantic County?s state legislators said today the election of the Republican county candidate slate was the ?best way to assure low taxes, controlled spending and fiscal responsibility.?
Assemblymen Vince Polistina and John Amodeo said continued Republican control of the Board of Freeholders ?will mean continued respect and concern for the taxpayers — two ingredients in short supply in state government.?
?The Freeholder Board has cut the property tax rate eight years in a row and it now stands at its lowest level in history,? the legislators said. ?Because of the restraint exercised by county government, Atlantic County has been able to weather the current economic storm, while state government continues to mismanage itself into multi-billion dollar deficits.?
They endorsed the re-election of District 3 Freeholder Frank Sutton, and the election of at large candidates Tom Ballistreri and Manny Aponte, along with the election of Sheriff candidate Frank Balles.
?The Democrats offer only the kind of out of touch mindset that more spending and higher taxes are the solution to every problem,? Polistina and Amodeo said. ?It?s the same kind of thinking that has driven state government to the brink of fiscal disaster. We neither need nor want that kind of thinking in Atlantic County government.?
