Operation Summer $quash II

Mays Landing ? On Thursday, June 21, 2011, Atlantic County Sheriff?s Officers completed a three day arrest sweep of subjects wanted on warrants for failure to pay child support.

Operation Summer $quash II is the local component of a Statewide operation, the result of a four week investigation involving the collaborative efforts of all units of the Sheriff?s Office and the Atlantic County Family Court Support Enforcement Unit.

Fifty-five people were arrested on Child Support warrants and additional seventeen were arrested on criminal warrants. The total Child Support Warrants cleared in Atlantic County was sixty-seven of which the total Statewide was one thousand- seventy- four [1074].

Forty- five people failed to make payment and were lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Thirty one municipal warrants were cleared also during the three day sweep. $12,522.79 in fines were collected of the $211,453.27 collected throughout the State.

The warrant raids will continue and parents owing child support are advised by Sheriff Frank Balles to make their payments or face the possibility of arrest at any location or of having their photograph published in the newspaper, shown on television or posted on the internet.

Sheriff Frank Balles said, ?Even during tough economic times, it is our duty to continue to be vigilante in our timely execution of child support warrants issued by the Court.? He added, ?This office will continue to team with all of the Sheriff?s Offices in New Jersey to routinely participate in statewide raids organized to arrest those people wanted by the Family Court for failure to pay their Court Ordered Child Support.?
