LoBiondo Appointed to House Intelligence Committee

Speaker-designate John Boehner (R-OH) today appointed Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) to the House Intelligence Committee, joining Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), who Boehner previously announced would serve as chairman. He issued the following statement:

?The members of the House Intelligence Committee are charged with one of the most significant responsibilities of Congress ? keeping the American people safe by ensuring our nation?s intelligence community has the resources and authorities it needs to succeed and conducting effective oversight of the Administration. Republicans have made a Pledge to America to keep our nation secure at home and abroad, and I am confident that the experience and expertise that all of our Members bring to their posts will enhance the effectiveness of the Committee. I look forward to working with them.?

Appointments to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence are at the sole discretion of the Speaker of the House.

?I?m deeply appreciative of the faith and trust Speaker-designate Boehner has placed in me for this critical assignment,? said LoBiondo. ?The safety and security of America and her people are at the heart of every member of Congress. I accept the appointment to the House Intelligence Committee and its enormous responsibility to ensure our intelligence agencies have the resources and authorities necessary to meet their daunting mission.?

LoBiondo will retain his seats on the House Armed Services Committee and House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee in the 112th Congress.
