?The Democrat candidates for the Legislature and County Executive showed their disdain and disrespect for the citizens of Atlantic City yet again by failing to appear at another candidates? forum to debate the Republican ticket,? Atlantic County Republican chairman Keith A. Davis said today.
?There should be no doubt in anyone?s mind that the Democrats take the voters of Atlantic City for granted,? Davis said, ?to the insulting point that they don?t even bother to show up at community and civic forums.?
Davis said the failure of the Democrats to appear at a forum last night at Jeffrey Towers is ?one more incident in a pattern of disrespect they?ve shown to the people of the City.?
?The Democrats obviously feel they can ignore the City residents, turn their backs on the needs and concerns of those residents, show them no respect, and take their support for granted,? Davis said.
He said the Republican candidates — County Executive Dennis Levinson, State Sen. James ?Sonny? McCullough and Assembly candidates Vince Polistina and John Amodeo — have appeared at virtually every debate or joint appearance to offer their platform and to listen to the concerns of taxpayers.
?The Democrats, on the other hand, have deliberately avoided meeting the Republicans face to face because they are ashamed to try to defend their records of non-accomplishment,? Davis said.
?Atlantic City and its people deserve better than the disrespect shown them by the Democrats,? he said. ?They deserve to have their voices heard and their concerns addressed. The Democrats have made it clear they are not interested in either one.?
