Atlantic County Republican Chairman Keith Davis today released the following statement concerning the Governor?s Transition Team?s call for the elimination of the South Jersey Transportation Authority and consolidating it with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority and possibly the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey:
?The South Jersey Transportation Authority has for too long been a haven of waste and patronage for the Camden County Democrat Machine. The Press of Atlantic City has accused the SJTA of maintaining ?a patronage system that rewards political cronies.? It is time for that system to end. It is time for government to be streamlined so that the hacks can be eliminated and the Atlantic City Expressway and Atlantic City International Airport are more efficiently managed to serve the taxpayers of New Jersey instead of the Camden County political bosses.?
