Governor Is Treating Taxpayer Money Like it’s His Own
New Jersey Republican State Chairman Tom Wilson issued the following statement on the Senate Republican?s lawsuit today forcing Governor Corzine to provide documents that show what budgeted funds he has frozen to address an at least $1.2 billion budget shortfall:
?New Jersey is facing a billion dollar budget shortfall in our current budget and Jon Corzine is refusing to tell the taxpayers what he’s doing to close the gap. Governor Corzine is acting like his Wall Street pal Bernie Madoff and treating the treasury like it’s his money, not our money. His failure to detail the steps he’s taking to avert a catastrophe is even more egregious given his pledge to increase transparency. His decision to waste our dwindling resources defending a lawsuit compelling him to outline the cuts he’s making is just the latest example of his arrogance and inability to understand the problems facing those of us who pay the taxes he’s wasting.?
