3/16/10 - Moment of truth

Today Governor Chris Christie will deliver his budget message. There's been a lot of hype about the Governor's budget and the doom and gloom it brings.

The spending cuts. The cuts to municipal and school aid. The public employee cuts.

Many view the Governor's reductions in spending as risky. While I agree there is political risk in the Governor's proposed spending cuts, there is little risk to the future financial health of our state if his budget is adopted.

In the Governor's anticipated budget, I see hope. And I believe the majority of New Jerseyans will agree.

At long last, New Jersey is beginning to turn the corner toward sensible government that lives within its means. Over the long term, it will lead to a reduction in property taxes too.

Democrats wasted no time yesterday in guessing what the Governor will say today and then bashing him for it. What the Democrats fail to remember is that they had complete control of state government for 8 long years. Not only did they fail to address the problems of our state or rework our broken property tax structure, but they made the problems worse by spending more and more.

Governor Chris Christie has come home to find his kids had a crazy party while he was away. Now he needs to clean up the mess.

It is incumbent on all of us to support the Governor as he attempts to have his budget enacted because this is exactly what we elected him to do: change the way Trenton operates and cut spending.

2/26/10 - People I would hate to be today....

Who would I hate to be today?

Tiger Woods, the Canandian women's hockey team and Bernie Platt.

Woods and the hockey team you may have heard of; Platt you may not have.

Read up on him at my friend Rick DeMichele's blog site. Rick is the chairman of the Camden County Republican Party and is rightfully taking the Mayor of Cherry Hill to task.

2/18/10 - CPAC Conference sees influx of Tea Party activitists

The long-standing annual gathering of conservative leaders and activists --- known as CPAC --- convenes today in Washington, DC.

Energy abounds at this year's meeting with an influx of Tea Party activists who are rebelling against the Obama administration's health care program and wasteful stimulus measures.

You can read more about the conference here.

1/22/10 - Quote of the day

"He is so well-liked, so well-respected."

That's what Gerald Sakura said today about Congressman Frank LoBiondo. Sakura has announced that he will run for the Democrats against Congressman LoBiondo this year.

I happen to agree with Mr. Sakura and hope he stays in the race to the very end so we can have a civil campaign in 2010.
