Earlier this month the Republican controlled Freeholder Board took decisive action to stimulate job creation in Atlantic County by appropriating more than $1 million toward a comprehensive career and workforce development agenda. This plan is intended to provide workers with intensive support services and skills necessary to obtain and retain employment despite Atlantic County?s stagnant 11.8% unemployment rate as reported for the month of July.
?This investment is going to benefit hard working residents throughout Atlantic County that have been victims of the economic downturn,? said Freeholder Frank Giordano, who is the Chairman of the Economic Development Committee. ?In addition to this initiative, the Freeholder Board has already approved $50 million in capital construction projects including $36 million for the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, $14 million for Atlantic Cape Community College, and $7.5 million for the County Courthouse.?
?Earlier this year the Freeholder Board under the leadership of Freeholder Chairman Jim Curcio and Freeholder Frank Giordano saved taxpayers more than $1.5 million by restructuring its bonds,? said District 2 Freeholder candidate Frank Formica. ?This tradition of the prudent fiscal management of Atlantic County under the Levinson Republican team is what made it possible to fund these critical capital projects which will put people to work.?
?The Freeholder Board has also given the green light to move ahead with the federally funded $300 million expansion at FAA Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, which will bring more than 3,000 high paying professional jobs to Atlantic County.? said Freeholder Chairman Jim Curcio. ?The thousands of jobs being saved and created as a result of the decisive action being taken by Atlantic County?s Republican Freeholders stand in stark contract to the job killing policies of the Corzine Democrats here in Atlantic County.?
