AMODEO AND POLISTINA: NATURAL GAS RATE REDUCTION
WILL HELP KEEP COUNTY RESIDENTS WARM
NORTHFIELD ? With the chilly nights of autumn about to descend on our region and winter soon to be knocking on our door, Assemblymen John Amodeo and Vince Polistina said a natural gas rate reduction announced by South Jersey Gas is welcome news for area residents still feeling the effects of a stagnant national economy.
?On behalf of our constituents in Atlantic County, I would like to thank South Jersey Gas officials for their initiative in providing rate breaks for their customers when the opportunity presents itself,? said Amodeo, R-Atlantic. ?This is most welcome news for our residents who continue to have difficulty paying their monthly bills.?
?This additional rate reduction will provide a welcome boost to many struggling families as we head into fall and winter,? said Polistina, R-Atlantic. ?With early forecasts calling for another cold and possibly snowy winter, this drop in rates will help keep our Atlantic County families and senior citizens warm and safe.?
The 3.4 percent rate reduction, reported in Thursday?s Press of Atlantic City, is the result of a decline in wholesale natural gas prices. The cut, which will take effect shortly, was approved by the state Board of Public Utilities (BPU). Combined with a 6 percent decrease in monthly natural gas bills in March, rates have fallen a total of 9.4 percent to date this year for South Jersey Gas customers.
